HESSTON, IN: The Fourth of July. It’s family time. Sights, sounds and fireworks. But why wait until night? With special exhibits, events and plenty of outdoor activitiesthe HESSTON STEAM MUSEUM promises the same fun for the whole family – all day long – this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 3, 4 & 5. The grounds open at 11:30 each day with trains running from noon to 5 p.m. (C.S.T.)

 

Families will love seeing how our “fire works” to power an authentic steam-powered Shay logging locomotive and other trains; a huge crane and even a turn-of-the-century electric light plant!

 

Special events!

 

Talk about sights and sounds. Hesston will be a museum in motion as it hosts its annual STEAM TRACTOR SHOW featuring vintage machines from all eras.

 

Visitors also can see some amazing toy trains and miniature landscapes – as the Hesston Steam Museum hosts the “World’s Largest Mobile Toy Train / Model Train Layout,” according to the Guinness World Records. (small fee required to enter this display)

 

About Hesston Steam Museum

 

Hesston Steam Museum has three sizes of real steam locomotives – including numerous full-size narrow-gauge engines that carry visitors on a spectacular two-and-a-half-mile journey through deep woods, past lakes and farm fields. The Museum also features ¼-scale and 1/8-scale steam railroads. Both meander over bridges and through an enchanting wooded landscape.

 

The Hesston Steam Museum is filled with other steam-powered machinery including a working sawmill, railroad steam crane, steam-powered electric power plant, steam traction engines and more.

 

The museum’s gift shop features toys, books, videos, hats and more for kids of all ages. Food is available at the museum grounds or visitors may bring a picnic.
